As the only instructor training center in the Dominican Republic we regularly train all professional programs for the SSI, CMAS and SEI/PDIC associations.
The course can usually start at any time.
Assistant Instructor (AI)

The Assistant Instructor (AI) course is the ideal preparation for becoming an Open Water Instructor.
As an AI you can hold pool and theory lessons independently and assist active instructors with open water lessons. You will thus gain valuable teaching experience in order to then take part in an Instructor Training Course (ITC).
You are also entitled to teach the Scuba Skills Update independently and to hold a try dive in the pool. In addition, you can be approved as a Training Specialist for selected specialty programs and thus teach and certify independently.
Course duration: approx. 100 hours, theory and water time

Requirements:
Dive Master, 75 dives (min. 40 hours dive time)
Price: US$ 1,500 including theory, course material, certification and SSI annual fee (1 year)
Instructor Training Course (ITC)

This program fully prepares you to become an active member of the dive industry, a successful instructor and a valued dive center employee.
You will be able to teach and certify new divers in conjunction with a dive center. You will also qualify as an instructor for the specialties Diver Stress & Rescue, Enriched Air Nitrox and Perfect Buoyancy!

Requirements:
Divemaster, 75 dives with a minimum of 50 hours dive time

Specialty Instructor

As an Open Water Instructor, you can also qualify as an instructor for all specialties except Science of Diving or design a Unique Specialty yourself and have it officially recognized by SSI.

Assistant Instructor Trainer (AITC)

Building on the Instructor Training Program, as an instructor in active status and with appropriate experience, you can approach the "Assistant Instructor Trainer" - the training of instructors.
The SSI Assistant Instructor Trainer program provides candidates with the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to conduct SSI Assistant Instructor programs and assist with the Instructor Training Course.
An Assistant Instructor Trainer can also assist an Instructor Trainer in conducting all SSI Instructor Level programs.
Course duration: min. 6 days plus exam/certification.

Prerequisites:
18 years, Open Water Instructor in active status (or equivalent certification from an SSI recognized diving association), Dive Master Instructor, Certifications (minimum): 30 OWD or Scuba Diver, 3 Dive Guide, 3 Diver Stress & Rescue, 3 Science of Diving, 6 Advanced Adventurer or Specialties.

Instructor Crossover

The compact SSI Crossover Program has been discontinued. Since January 1, 2025, instructors from all training organizations wishing to join SSI must complete parts of an Instructor Training Course (ITC), followed by an Instructor Evaluation (IE).
Completing specific parts of the ITC ensures that instructors from other training organizations receive comprehensive education in SSI’s teaching methods, training standards, and risk management.
